Whale Watching and wildlife viewing trips

Looking for things to do in Vancouver... Tourism in Vancouver..

The Pacific Northwest coast has one of the world’s highest biodiversity (*). The ocean by Vancouver hosts a myriad of sea life. Orcas, sea lions, seals, otters regularly frequent the area. They feed on the fish that travel into the area to spawn, such as the salmon that is found in abundance along the Pacific coast.

Steep tides drop the water level along the coast by as much as 15 feet and expose thousands of acres of shoreline in the process. These inter-tidal beaches are teaming with crabs, clams, and worms making for an inviting smorgasbord for birds.

It is not surprising that many of the migratory birds from the Arctic choose their route along the Pacific West Coast. Indeed many don’t fly any further south and over winter right here in the river estuaries and along the local shores, making spring and fall superb bird watching seasons.

Choose one of our day trips to see some of these wildlife species. All trips include pick-up from your hotel.

*) biodiversity = number of organisms living on a single square inch.
